About Dr. Brian P. Jacks M.D., Medical Director
Brian P. Jacks, M.D F.A.A.C.P, has been a Medical Doctor and Psychiatrist for over 35 years. He is board certified since 1974 in Adult Psychiatry and Neurology, and since 1976 in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry. He has been a consultant for the Medical Board of California Since 1995.
Dr. Jacks is a full Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at USC since 1995, where he teaches and lectures to graduate doctors who specialize in Psychiatry. He is doubly board-certified by both the American Board of Adult Psychiatry and Neurology and by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He is a member of the TMS society and has been trained at Harvard in the latest research for Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation.

NEW BRAIN INSTITUTE TREATMENT PATH
DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENT
Determine if criteria are met for TMS treatment. This consists of a 60-90 min evaluation with a PMHNP.
PRIOR AUTHORIZATION
If criteria for TMS treatment is met, it is very likely your insurance company will require a prior authorization. This can take 3-10 days to receive a decision.
MAPPING, MOTOR THRESHOLD & FIRST TREATMENT
Your first appointment consists of determining location, dose and then followed by a full TMS 19-min treatment.
DAILY TMS TREATMENT
You will receive 19 minute treatments Monday through Friday. Treatment may be as short as 3 weeks and up to 9 weeks, depending on client need and insurance.
REFRESHER TREATMENTS
A new authorization for TMS treatment can be requested from your insurance company for those clients requiring additional treatment sessions.
MEDICATION MANAGEMENT & ONGOING CARE
Even though New Brain Institute’s practitioners do not manage client medications long term, we can make medication adjustments as necessary throughout treatment course. Once TMS treatment is complete, clients will return back to their prescribing provider for ongoing medication management. New Brain Institute can also assist in finding an ongoing medication provider.
